Introduction

In this game, you and your team embark on an exciting puzzle quest. Your goal is to decipher a series of ingenious riddles and codes. Work together to solve complex puzzles and score more points than competing teams. The game ends when time runs out, or when you've overcome the final challenge.

Quick Start Guide

Create teams of about 4 people. Each team appoints a team captain with a recent mobile phone to limit the risk of internet and GPS problems.
1. Every player downloads the Quest Escapes App
Visit the Apple App Store or Google Play to download our Quest Escapes App.

2. Gather at the starting location
Make sure the whole group is at the designated starting location.
3. Open the Quest Escapes App
Open the Quest Escapes App on the start screen.
4. Team Captains
Only the captain of each team enters the provided game code and follows the steps to register the team. Important: Do not enter a game code if you are not a team captain and be sure the gps-settings are on 'Always'.
5. Team members
The other team members tap the 'Scan QR' button at the bottom of the screen. They then scan the QR code during the team registration process in the captain's app to join the team. After the registration the QR-code can be found in the app settings of each registered team member.
6. Start the game
Once all teams are ready, the main captain (the captain who registered the first team) starts the game by pressing the 'Start Game' button in the app.

Navigation

The red circles on the map are locations you need to move to. You can choose the order in which you visit the locations. When you get close to a location, the color changes from red to green. You can now click on the location to view the associated task.

Each location task must be completed before the next location can be opened.

The Assignments

The assignments you receive during the game are often accompanied by documents. These are needed to solve the tasks. This can be audio, video, images, or links to external websites.

For most assignments, you can request one or more hints. These hints will reduce the points you can earn for the task. Think carefully before giving an answer. After a wrong answer, the question yields fewer points, and after a certain number of wrong answers, you will receive no points at all.

Only the team captains can enter the answers.

Taking Over the Role of Team Captain

It may happen that the team captain's device has GPS problems, a dead battery or other technical problems that cause communication with our server to be lost or have an adverse effect on the gaming experience. In such cases, one of the other team members can take over the role of team captain, so that the team can continue with the game.

In such cases, go to the settings and press the 'Become Captain' button. Then confirm that you want to become team captain. The 'old team captain' then becomes a 'regular player'.

Technical Issues

Make sure that the internet, GPS and Bluetooth are turned on while playing. This ensures the best GPS results. If a player still experiences issues with the app, while other players or teams do not, we recommend following these steps. If the first suggestion does not solve the problem, proceed to the next suggestion in the list.
1. Internet connection
Check if there is an internet connection on the device.
2. GPS
Check if the app can use the GPS function in the phone's GPS settings.
3. Restart
Close the app completely and reopen it. This establishes a new connection with our server.
4. Reinstall
Delete and reinstall the app.
5. Play in the browser
Make sure another team member is or becomes the captain and delete the app. Check again whether you have internet and scan the team QR code again. You can find the QR code in the settings screen in your team members' app. You will now play in a browser version of the app.
